Green Roof Bicycle Shed

client private

contract value £20,000

area 6 sq. m.

Logistical problems of storing bicycles and recycling bins at the bottom of a steep stepped path up to the client’s house led the client to Halvorsen Architects. The house (Morris and Steadman’s Upside Down House) and garden are both Grade B Listed.

A storage shed was built into the grass bank with the lawn running into the green roof of the shed. Sedum was chosen as the roofing material to blend in with the surrounding lawn but to distinguish it at the same time, and add interest to the descent above.

The shed houses the bicycles and bins providing a clutter-free entrance.
